The Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) is rushing to complete the naturalisation process for Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh and Shayne Pattynama. Jordi Amat and Sandy Walsh, in particular, were once considered the brightest talents in European football, having played for the youth teams in Spain and the Netherlands.

Jordi Amat is a player with a special background. He is a direct descendant of King MD Kansil – one of the past rulers of the Siau Emirate in northern Sulawesi (Indonesia). On July 1, Jordi Amat was conferred the title of Pangeran (Prince) by the Nusantara Royal Muslim Council.

Aside from the peculiar pedigree, Jody Amat is also a familiar face in La Liga. The 30-year-old midfielder used to play for Espanyol, Real Betis And Vallecano in Spain and Swansea in England, before moving to Belgium’s Eupen in 2019.

Jordi Amat will stay with the team until June 2022 before moving to Johor Darul Ta’zim club to adapt to the Southeast Asian football environment and promote Indonesian citizenship.

Sandy Walsh is 27 years old and currently plays for Belgian club KV Mechelen. The player excels at centre-back and right-back. While not of royal blood like Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh has a complex background and can play for 8 different national teams.

His father, Irish of Somali and South African descent, was born in England. Her mother is Indonesian, born in Switzerland and holds Dutch nationality. The player himself was born in Belgium. Therefore, he is eligible to play for the teams in the aforementioned 8 countries. In the end, the defender chose to devote himself to the Indonesian team.

Shayne Pattynama is also a Dutch player who is about to become a naturalized Indonesian. Patinamar, 23, can play at left-back and in midfield. The player also played for Vikings in Belgium, but he was never called up to the Dutch youth team.

If the naturalization process of Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh and Shayne Pattynama goes well, Indonesia head coach Shin Tae-yong will have the services of all three on FIFA Day in September 2022. These are expected to be quality additions to Indonesia’s defense in the near future.
