Video Puig gives an interview about winning the title at Barca
Barcelona is still completing the task of hunting for a quality free contract in the summer of 2022. Reputable sources confirm, including Fabrizio Romano, that the Blaugrana has reached an agreement to recruit Franck Kessie. Kessie agreed to the salary terms of the Nou Camp team.
The appearance of Kessie at the club helps Barca to have abundant personnel in the midfield. Currently, coach Xavi has many options in hand in midfield including: Sergio Busquets, Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Nico Gonzalez, Riqui Puig. Not to mention that Sergi Roberto can also play in the center circle.
With Barca applying a 4-3-3 scheme, these many names (including Kessie) are a relatively redundant number for Xavi to calculate tactics. Not surprising if Barca parted a midfielder and that name is likely to be Puig.
Compared to other names, Puig is just the last resort in Xavi’s eyes. The young star born in 1999 could not compete for the main kick because of the outstanding performance of Busquets, Gavi, Pedri and de Jong. Normally, Nico is a name that is trusted to come on the field from the bench, so Puig’s ability to play is limited.
That’s why when Barca welcomes more people, Puig needs to consider leaving, although he has always insisted that he wants to stay at the Nou Camp to confirm his position. However, the situation next season will be different because the Spaniard has to compete with more factors.
Obviously, in order to fall into this situation, La Masia’s “jewel” must blame herself for her laziness in competition and practice. This midfielder was popular before Pedri and Gavi but now sees his juniors overwhelm him at Barca.
Puig is not a suitable midfielder for Xavi because of his habit of plunging the ball straight into the opponent’s penalty area and paying little attention to the space to pass the ball. Meanwhile, Pedri and Gavi bring more Tiki-taka-style football.
Recently, information appeared that Puig was interested by Wolves. This may be the only way out of the boy born in 1999 in the context of Barca preparing to welcome people in midfield.
