The Spaniard has remarkable remarks after beating Manchester United.
Rangnick spoke after the defeat to Man City
Thanks to changes in the approach of manager Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United had a really positive first 45 minutes in last night’s Manchester derby. But entering the second half, the Red Devils players suddenly lost their fighting spirit and only knew how to fight off consecutive situations of stopping from Manchester City.
Coach Pep Guardiola admitted that Rangnick tried to change the mentality of the players so that Man Utd could play more actively, but Man City found many gaps – especially behind the midfield duo Fred and Scott McTominay .
Talking to BBC after the game, the Spaniard shared (quoted by Eurosport):
“Excellent from the first minute. We played really well and had to be patient in the first approach.”
“Ralf [Rangnick] tried to change the mentality to make United more aggressive, but we created space, especially in the second half, to develop the ball behind [Scott] McTominay and Fred.”
“Football is emotional. Obviously tactics are important, but so are emotions. When we lose the ball, we are a team with the desire and passion to win the ball back from the first minute to the 90th minute.”
“We also wanted to have as much possession as possible and especially in the second half we used possession very well.”
