Inter faint, painful because of the problem of “ammo jam”

Because of the ungainly attack, Inter Milan is having impressive achievements in recent times.

The Serie A champions drew 0-0 in their Coppa Italia clash with Milan. It’s only the first leg, so the Nerazzurri still have a chance to reach the Finals. However, Inter’s painful problem was clearly seen after the encounter with the neighbor.

In the past few weeks, their ability to score has been quite worrying as Simone Inzaghi’s men have not celebrated any goals in the last 4 matches against Liverpool, Sassuolo, Genoa and Milan. Lautaro Martinez has not scored a goal in 2022, while Edin Dzeko has only 3 goals in the last 13 matches in all competitions. The strikers’ poor form is certainly one of Inter’s problems at the moment, but it’s certainly not the only one.

Another match Inter could not score.

Former Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi highlighted how exhausted both Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolò Barella looked against Milan. He added that the Nerazzurri lacked the link between attack and midfield.

Barella has provided eight assists in his first 16 Serie A games this season, one more than one under Antonio Conte in the last campaign. Only thing is that after 2022, this midfielder does not work effectively in the opponent’s half of the field with 1 goal and has not contributed any clearing passes.

Brozovic is not a goalscorer or an assist, especially when this is becoming a task for Hakan Calhanoglu. However, the Croatia international has only missed two games this season and has only been substituted 11 times in all competitions this season. Only Samir Handanovic (3,270) and Milan Skriniar (3,000) have played more than Brozo this season (2,959).

Calhanoglu has also dropped significantly since the beginning of 2022 with only 1 assist in 11 appearances. Remember, the former Milan star had six goals and eight assists in his first 18 Serie A games against the Nerazzurri.

Inter need to solve the current problem.

The lack of goals is indeed closely related to Inter’s struggles in midfield, where Inzaghi’s regular starting players look tired and unimpressive on the opposing side. Therefore, Inzaghi is likely to rotate more personnel, thereby looking for a new breath of life from the midfield.

That could be the solution to the current situation. Because if it continues to be empty, Inter will not be able to win and lose the opportunity to win the title this season.
