Griz unveil throwback uniforms honoring 2001 National Champions

The Montana Grizzlies will wear throwback uniforms honoring the 2001 National Championship Team when they take the field against Sacramento State on Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

The uniforms feature the same throwback numbers, small Montana lettering across the front, vintage grizzly bear paw logos on the sleeves, silver trim around the neck and arms, and are made out of a similar mesh material as the original 2001 jerseys.

2021 marks the 20th anniversary of Montana’s second, and most recent national championship, with more than 50 members of the team are expected to return home for the celebration.

Led by former head coach Joe Glenn, the 2001 Griz are also reuniting for a good cause with an ambitious fundraising effort underway to endow a scholarship in memory of three players from that squad, Tim Bush, Curt Colter, and Herb Fernandez, that the world lost too soon.

The funds they raise will also support the ongoing facility improvements for Grizzly Athletics and the football program.

Tickets for Saturday’s 2001 National Championship Reunion Game are available at GrizTix.com. Following the game the jerseys will be sold to returning members of the 2001 team, and any remaining will be sold to the current players as a fundraiser for scholarship and facility improvements.
