Griz back in action at Idaho State Invitational

The Montana men’s tennis team returns to action this weekend at the Idaho State Invitational in Pocatello following a quick turnaround time after the ITA Mountain Regional tournament.

The ISU Invitational is scheduled to be held on the outdoor courts at Capell Park in Chubbuck from Friday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Oct. 3. Doubles play starts each day at 9 a.m. (MT).

On the courts this week for the Griz are seniors Pontus Hallgren and Milo Benn, juniors Josh Watkins and Lawrence Sciglitano, and freshman Sam Baldwin. All of whom, except Sciglitano, stayed back in Missoula a week ago when the Griz were at BYU for the ITA Regional.

The five-team regional tournament will feature players from BYU, Utah, Montana, Montana State, and the host Bengals.

“It’s nice to be back on the road with the other half out our squad this weekend,” said head coach Jason Brown.

“We’re testing out some new doubles combinations and just looking to get match tough. The fact we get to compete against Utah and BYU on top of a couple Big Sky schools can only help us improve and get properly prepared for the spring season.”

Montana returns to action in the I-15 corridor again next week at the Utah Invitational in Salt Lake City, scheduled to run Oct. 7-10 at the Eccles Tennis Center.

Idaho State will not have live updates or scoring from this week’s event.
