Neves’ super product
Man Utd face the prospect of losing Paul Pogba on a free transfer this summer, while Ralf Rangnick is understood to be keen to bolster the team’s midfield options at the end of the season, when the Reds fall short. A true defensive midfielder.
Neves was heavily linked with the Old Trafford side in the January transfer window, but Wolves are demanding a £40m fee for the 24-year-old, who still has more than two years left on his contract at Molineux Stadium. Meanwhile, the Tielemans are also in the sights of the Red Devils as Leicester City seem doomed to lose the Belgium international in the summer of 2022.
Tielemans will have just one year left on his contract this summer and it is understood Leicester would be willing to sell him for a fee of £35m. Arsenal are also racing to sign the Tielemans but Ferdinand feels his former side should look elsewhere to improve their midfield.
When asked about Neves, the former England midfielder said: “I like him, he’s fantastic, he holds the ball as well as anyone, a really good player.”
But when it was suggested that Man Utd’s midfield next season would be Neves, Tielemans and Bruno Fernandes, Ferdinand replied: ” It was not my choice, I have to be honest.
I like them, good players, but if you think that midfield will bring you closer to other teams, I’m against it. We are lacking wisdom in the way each player moves .”
