Kai Havertz scored the opening goal in the semi-final first leg of the English League Cup. The Chelsea striker took advantage of the mistake of midfielder Japhet Tanganga and hit Tottenham in the face of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, but perhaps landed in the wrong position, leading to a broken finger.
The German star hugged his teammates in pain and rushed to celebrate the goal. Images recorded while Kai Havertz left the field to receive the care of medical staff showed that the striker’s finger was deformed. However, the 22-year-old continued to play after being bandaged.
Towards the end of the first half, Kai Havertz’s pain became intense and the Chelsea coaching staff decided to withdraw the striker from the field after the break. The man to replace Kai Havertz on the attack of the Blues is compatriot Timo Werner.
In the end, Chelsea won 2-0 and considered one foot in the final of the English League Cup. After Kai Havertz’s goal, the Blues continued to have another goal from Ben Davies’ own own goal in the 38th minute.
According to the schedule, the semi-final second leg between Tottenham and Chelsea will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 02:45 on January 13 (Vietnam time). The winner of this match will face Arsenal or Liverpool in the final of the League Cup.
